The St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Toronto (SKNAT) is a non-profit community based organization committed to provide support and enhance the St. Kitts and Nevis Community. The organization is enthusiastic in establishing and promoting partnerships with other groups and communities in Toronto and other surrounding areas.
The St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Toronto was established in 1970 in order to:
- Promote unity among nationals of St. Kitts and Nevis, their descendants and relatives
- Develop and maintain cultural, educational, social and recreational programs to assist members to fully participate in and contribute to Canadian society
- Operate as a non-partisan, not-for-profit organization to assist charitable causes
The St. Kitts and Nevis Association of Toronto (SKNAT) plans a variety of events throughout the year. In February we celebrate Black History Month by having a Black History celebration. In May we host one of our biggest events in which we are pleased to celebrate all mothers, grandmothers, god mothers and special women in our lives with our annual Mother’s Day brunch. July is by far our busiest month with our Annual Picnic, Boat Ride and Caribana Dance. Independence celebrations take place in September.
SKNAT has a scholarship award which was established to recognize the exceptional academic, community and leadership achievements of young people who have familial ties to St. Kitts and Nevis. This award is presented at our annual Christmas Dinner and Dance. SKNAT also enjoys entertaining the children with our annual Children’s Christmas party, held in December.
As SKNAT is a non-profit organization we thank our many sponsors for donations that have been presented to us throughout the years which has allowed us to cater to the many events SKNAT proudly presents. SKNAT would like to thank our members and non members for their continued support throughout the years and many more years to come.
